Events

Jeff is available to facilitate a range of events for your Church or community. These include story presentations, retreats and reflection days, workshops, Story Café, various talks on the spiritual life, as well as teaching and preaching engagements.

Each of these activities will include Jeff’s ministry in storytelling. Whilst Jeff has offered a number of topics, on which he has given much time in prayer, reflection and study, he is open to invitations to share on other topics of interest to your community. However Jeff would only accept such specific requests where he feels he has some competence in the subject matter.

Jeff is able to provide a range of events, and minister in a variety of settings, to different audiences, cathedrals and church picnics, convents and cafes, etc, to pre-schoolers and nursing homes, theological colleges and primary schools, church services, conferences, rallies or retreats, prayer meetings, or Theological and Bible Colleges.

Talks & Reflections
What we have seen & heard we are telling you:
I have come to realise that faith is not so much about what you know, but whom you know, and WHO knows you. The talks are not lectures on spirituality or theology, but rather reflections from one pilgrim to another, helping us to know & love the One who loves us & who says “I am with you, always.”

Nor do I profess to be a wise and holy spiritual master, far from it. However, I have come to realise we are called to give what we have been given, and for what it is worth, I share with you what I have learnt as I walk the path home to the Heart of God.

Topics such as:
† The prayer of the heart.
† The Jesus Prayer.
† The indwelling Trinity.
† Discernment.
† The spiritual gifts.
† What is my cross?
† The pilgrimage of the heart.
† The pilgrimage of the cross & the desert.
† Living in God’s promise, “I am with you”.
† Lord, who do you say, I am?
† The Kingdom of God is among you.
† Living in the house of the Lord.
† How can I make my faith come alive?
† Christian meditation.
† Listening and attentiveness.
† Being attuned to hear God’s call, hineni, ‘here I am.’
† The spiritual life, of grace, faith, hope & love.
† Hearing the words Jesus speaks to each of us from the Cross.
† Listening for God’s story, our story, and your story.
† Biblical Themes: hesed, emet & rahamin, ie, God’s mercy & faithful loving kindness.
† You shall ‘fall in love with’ the Lord with all your heart, & mind, & soul, & strength.
† Reading and listening to the Scriptures.
† And many others.

Any of the above topics could also be considered in the format and setting of a reflection day, or retreat.

Retreats
Jeff is available to facilitate a number of retreats and reflection days. These will be offered at central locations, or can be conducted at your Church or community.

Reflection days and retreats to depth your story in God’s story:
When vulnerability meets vulnerability, you find intimacy. Let us become vulnerable to our God, who, in Jesus, became vulnerable to us, so that we might live & dance, in God’s intimate embrace.

  • When God’s story & my story meet there is revelation. When I can tell & hear my story, in the presence of God, there is healing.
  • Learn to listen to your story & God’s story. Find connections between your story & the Biblical story, & learn how to weave them together.

We shall come and make our home in you. Jn 14:23

Times of reflection & quiet to prayerfully listen:

  • To the heart of the Triune God.
  • To the Word through the heart.
  • Living, thinking & praying through the heart.
  • Living my story in God’s living story.
  • Letting God’s story live in my story.
  • The stable of our hearts, God’s sanctuary.
Retreats:
  • Welcome Home to the Household of God.
  • God’s story, our story, your story.
  • God’s story and men’s story, how to be strong Christian men in the 21st century.
  • The journey of the heart.
The retreats can be residential or non-residential, one day or two, or over a weekend. Alternatively, they could be organised over a number of weeks, say an evening or daytime gathering once a week.

For more detailed information on the content and format of these retreats and reflection days, please send an email request to Jeff.

Workshops
The workshops will not only include information, techniques, etc, on storytelling and proclaiming the Scriptures, but will feature biblical storytelling and reading of the Scriptures by Jeff.

  • Biblical storytelling; how to learn and tell the Scripture stories. This workshop will include input on the theory, theology, practice and background of Biblical storytelling, and a number of practical sessions for learning the story, and then telling the story.
  • Reading and proclaiming the Scriptures in Church services and liturgies, how to learn and proclaim the Scriptures, reverently and effectively, including techniques for reading, using the microphone, voice projection, etc.
  • Learning to proclaim the Easter and Christmas stories in Church services and liturgies. This will be similar in format to the above workshop, however we will also do a study of the specific scripture texts for these Christian feasts.
Whilst these workshops are aimed at people who want to learn how to tell the Bible story or publicly read the scriptures in Church, they are open to all who have an interest in the Scriptures. I have found that by using these skills, provide a wonderful basis for one’s own personal Bible study and reflections on the Word of God, and also, in one’s prayer life, spiritual life and pilgrimage to the heart of God.

Biblical storytelling
A variety of Biblical storytelling activities are available, from storytelling presentations, story café, in Church services, retreats, schools, etc. For more details visit the menu and click on the Stories icon.

The Story Café
A Biblical storytelling presentation, in a coffee shop setting and atmosphere, featuring; storytelling, conversation, discussion and fellowship. The event would be held at your Church or community, (day or night), or if you can arrange it, at a local coffee shop.
